On the morning of April 11, 2025, Associate Professor Ivan CK Tam, Head of Innovation and Collaboration at Newcastle University Singapore, visited the School of Power and Energy. The meeting was attended by Professor Wang Zhiwu, Vice Dean of the school, and Associate Professor Chen Yuzhi, Assistant to the Dean. Professor Wang Zhiwu chaired the meeting.
Vice Dean Wang Zhiwu first extended a warm welcome to Associate Professor Ivan on behalf of the school. During the subsequent exchange, Associate Professor Ivan provided a comprehensive introduction to the distinctive educational features of both the UK and Singapore campuses of Newcastle University. He elaborated on the university’s historical development, disciplinary structure, and mechanisms for scientific research and innovation in the field of energy and power. Additionally, he proposed potential avenues for collaboration in areas such as organizing joint academic conferences, implementing integrated undergraduate-to-doctoral training programs, and fostering collaborative research innovation.

Vice Dean Wang Zhiwu provided an overview of the school, covering its development history, achievements in disciplinary construction, key research directions, and internationalization strategy. He emphasized that, as a crucial teaching and research base in China's energy and power sector, the school consistently adheres to an open approach in education. He expressed the school's expectation to establish long-term collaboration mechanisms with Newcastle University in areas such as short-term academic exchanges (winter/summer programs), dual-degree programs, and joint research on key scientific projects.
