To advance the national strategy of developing a quality workforce for the new era, and to support the university's "127" development goals, the School of Power and Energy Engineering at Northwestern Polytechnical University actively responded to the university's global talent recruitment initiative. From February 27 to March 5, 2025, the school conducted talent recruitment and cooperation exchange activities in Singapore and China's Hong Kong. The delegation was led by Professor Liu Cunliang, Dean of the school, and included Professor Wang Zhiwu, Vice Dean, and Song Xi, the personnel secretary .
In Singapore, the delegation held talent exchange seminars at the National University of Singapore on February 27 and at Nanyang Technological University on February 28. Both sessions attracted a large number of young scholars, with all seats filled and generating enthusiastic feedback. Dean Liu Cunliang provided a detailed introduction to the school's disciplinary strengths, research focus areas, scientific research platforms, and talent recruitment policies. Following the seminars, the delegation engaged in in-depth one-on-one discussions with interested scholars, addressing their specific questions and fostering mutual understanding .


During their stay in Hong Kong, the delegation held talent exchange seminars at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, City University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and The Chinese University of Hong Kong from March 3 to 5. Each seminar attracted a large number of young scholars. Dean Liu Cunliang encouraged aspiring talents to join the school and contribute together to the nation's power and energy endeavors.

While in Singapore, the delegation visited Professor LEE Heow Pueh and toured the Dynamic Laboratory and the Impact Laboratory, gaining an in-depth understanding of the campus features of the National University of Singapore.
In addition, the delegation visited Professor Yang Wenming, the school’s talent recruitment ambassador. The two sides held in-depth discussions on disciplinary development and the current status of collaboration, and the delegation also toured his team’s Energy Conversion and Thermal Processes Laboratory.
During their stay in Hong Kong, the delegation from Northwestern Polytechnical University held in-depth discussions with the delegation from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University regarding student exchange and joint student cultivation programs. Both sides exchanged views on specific matters including cooperation models, curriculum alignment, and credit recognition, reaching a preliminary consensus and laying the foundation for future collaboration

The School held a guest professor appointment ceremony at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Northwestern Polytechnical University Vice President Hou Chengyi, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Office Li Ziwei, and Deputy Director of the Human Resources Department Zong Fan, among other leaders, attended the ceremony. Deputy Director Zong Fan presided over the event. Vice President Hou Chengyi presented letters of appointment to Professor Wen Zhiyong, Head and Chair Professor of the Department of Aeronautical and Aviation Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Professor Ni Meng, Vice Dean and Chair Professor of the Faculty of Construction and Environment. Both professors expressed their commitment to actively promote cooperation in scientific research exchanges and talent cultivation with the school

On the same day, Vice President Hou Chengyi of Northwestern Polytechnical University, Deputy Director Li Ziwei of the International Cooperation Office, Deputy Director Zong Fan of the Human Resources Department, along with Dean Liu Cunliang and Vice Dean Wang Zhiwu of the School of Power and Energy, visited and expressed their regards to nine students from the school who were conducting their undergraduate graduation projects at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. They engaged in a cordial conversation with the students.Following the meeting, Vice Dean Wang Zhiwu held a symposium with the nine students. He inquired in detail about their life and studies in Hong Kong, patiently addressed their questions, and encouraged them to cherish this valuable opportunity, broaden their horizons, and strive to enhance their capabilities.

The delegation visited Professor Cheng Song at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and toured his laboratory. At The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the delegation met with Professor Yang Zhengbao, the school's talent recruitment ambassador, and newly appointed Professor Xiang Changying as a talent recruitment ambassador, further expanding the school's international cooperation network

The recent visit to Singapore and China's Hong Kong has enabled the School of Power and Energy Engineering to extensively engage with outstanding overseas young scholars, further elevating the school's international influence and reputation. The school will continue to advance its global talent recruitment initiatives, optimize the environment for talent development, and contribute to the endeavor of building a world-class university with distinctive Chinese characteristics
